Manhole / マンホール

Manhole is an experimental video work composed of eight scenes that move across the boundaries between life and death, materiality and invisible presence.

The title refers not only to the structure that connects the surface of the city with the underground, but also to a threshold separating different realms. In this work, the manhole is approached as a passage through which the relationship between the reality we perceive and the existence beyond it unfolds.

Throughout the video, distinctions between different times and spaces, body and spirit, or the everyday and the extraordinary are never clearly defined. Instead, these elements overlap, circulate, and emerge as parts of a continuous world.

Rather than presenting life and death as opposing states, the work approaches them as conditions that continuously transition across boundaries, quietly asking what it means to exist.
