There are moments when the flicker of a fire, the movement of water, or the force of the wind passing through the body makes the presence of someone who has passed away feel unexpectedly close—beyond memory alone.
This work emerged from such experiences, in which natural elements become the medium through which the presence of the deceased reappears within present perception. Nature is treated not merely as a backdrop, but as a medium that reconnects past memory with the body in the present.
Across three video works, the piece explores states in which the body, memory, and presence dissolve into one another through natural phenomena centered around water. Alongside the videos, intangible sensations and concepts are presented within wooden boxes, revealing both the possibility and the paradox of giving material form to what cannot be seen.
Here, "dissolve" does not signify disappearance. Rather, it suggests a transition into another state—one in which presence continues to exist through memory and within nature itself. The work asks how those who are no longer physically present may continue to remain with us.
